Achille Perilli

Achille Perilli was born on January 28, 1927, in Rome. He attended classical high school and in 1945 enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Art History at the University of Rome. In 1946 attended Renato Guttuso’s studio, coming into contact with other artists such as Accardi, Attardi, Consagra, Sanfilippo and Turcato. This group of artists formed the “Forma 1” Group, which published a manifesto for an art “of pure form” and opposed the Neorealism prevalent at the time. Achille Perilli was one of the promoters of the establishment of abstract art in Italy in the 1950s. His artistic style was characterized by the use of geometric shapes and bright colors, creating abstract art that challenged the viewer with ambiguous and irregular figures. In the following years, Achille Perilli continued to show in numerous galleries, museums and exhibitions around the world. He died at the age of 94 in Orvieto.
